SYMPLE GREEEEN!

I know I haven't posted In a bit. Of course, I don't even have a fan base. But meh. I think I might have had a break through. If I use grey primer, Its a nice balance between coverage and darkness, which are the two things that make me paint slow. Trust me, I know. And simple green to remove the paint. Read more!

My first fluff story for the 671st

I remember the day when my platoon prepared to make landfall on the shores of the river Nygar on the planet Nathium. The 671st Support was called in to help create bridges over the planets many rivers, and fortify the weakened damns and flood gates. We were relatively untrained in planet wide conflict, and we had never made planet fall on a hostile planet. We had no idea the slaughter we were dropping into, nor did we know the strength or horrifying tenacity the chaos guard held onto the little terrain they still owned. This was a massive slip up on the intelligence division.

'Listen up troopers!' I jumped as the platoon commanders voice cut through the roar of the the Valkyries engine. 'You are dropping into a little contested area of the planet called Yulors Field. You will land at the dz, and will proceed 2 clicks east to the river. Cleanse the area of all enemies and heretics, and call in for the supplies. After the supplies have been dropped, build the pontoon bridge and hold it till 8th and 9th platoon arrive with armored support. Then, and only then will you be relieved and sent to regimental HQ and fortify the position there. Understood?' There was no pause between the commanders orders and the resounding 'Yes sir!' from nearly the entire platoon. Only the sergeants didn't reply.

The rumbling of the passenger compartment and the dull, green light, signaled that it was our time to leave the relative safety of the Valkyrie and step into whatever hell awaited us. We all checked our gear one last time, and slowly, one by one, we raised our arms into a prayer to the emperor. The sergeant yelled 'Breach!' and the back door to the Valkyrie dropped outwards, showing only what the engines exhaust light up in the dark night sky. We all ran out of the back of the Valkyrie, and whipped our lasguns out from their holster and took up kneeling defensive positions.

Artificial daylight, real daylight, Or compact florescent?

Just a wee picture differentiation for the people that want to take pictures. Wow, that sounds really lame... Basically, this is here to show you the difference between three different light bulbs. I was alyways curious as to how they looked on picture, as they all looked the same to me in real life. Anyway, without further ado.

The common Incandescent bulb. Slowly being phased out by the florescent due to cheapness and energy efficiency:

The compact florescent, A almost standard in newer houses due to energy efficiency:

The daylight bulb, a bulb made to mimic sunlight:

Daylight. Well, it's there, might as well use it eh?
Photobucket

As you can see, only the background is light up in the natural photograph. I blame my camera for that one. But the florescent bulb and the incandescent is more yellow, and the daylights are, well, daylight looking. However, the daylight and daylight bulb have short lifespans compared to the compact florescent bulb. The daylight mainly because its from the sun, and if it sets, you have to wait another 8-12 hours. In my opinion, If you have daylight, use it. If not, get a daylight bulb.

This Is just the basic fluff. Ill get around to making a story and such later...

The 671st is a regiment based on the planet Carssius, Located at the end of the Centaurus arm of the milky way. The exact coordinates are x=1267 y=599. This is a slowly developing plains world, with large flat expanses of grass and other local fauna. There is no water on the surface, but there are many subterranean rivers. The colony has started to become a prime test facility for new weapons and technology. A special few colonists, soldiers and scientists have been granted access from the Techpriests on mars to begin creating and testing a new weapon guidance system.

The 671st is Carssius's only defense. However, the 671st is trained extensively in defense and military engineering. This has caused the regiment to have one of the smallest casualty rates in the entire Imperium. However, the 671st is not meant to be on the front lines, or leading a spearhead.

The planets only contact with xenos was with the eldar from the neighboring Alaitoc Craftworld. A scouting party of 10 Eldar rangers landed near the city of Thems. The resulting skirmish caused 2 671st Casualty's, and 3 wounded. The eldar in turn suffered 1 casualty. However, the Governor of Thems called a cease fire and entered peaceful negotiations. The result was a Peace treaty With the Alaitoc, and the Senate are in open negotiations for a trade agreement with the Alaitoc.

Well, thats my fluff. Tell me how you like it. Read more!

Custom Hellhound. Sweet, I know.

This Is my custom hellhound. Basically a chimera with custom turrets and fuel tanks Well, Since I have a blog, and I use it for Warhammer, Ill show off my tons of pictures of my new custom hellhound. I have been working on it for roughly the last 1-2 weeks. First I started out with a basic hellhound chassis, And then put the two barrels from the Vehicle Accesory Sprue onto the back hatch. I wanted to have some sort of wire running from the barrels to the turret, But I couldn't find any at the time. Of course, A few hours later, I found a old broken cd-rom control board, Wires and all. I then Made the turret out of the chimera multi-laser, two of the same length track guards from the Vehicle Accesory Sprue and a bit of a flamethrower. The reason I used the track guards, unfortunately, Is because I lost the top half of the turret. I'll find it later thanks to irony... Anyway, I drilled two holes into the barrels with my x-acto knife. (Dremel wont hold the tiny ones, I need an adapter). Then, I primed it black, then painted it. So, without further ado, The painted Hellhound.

Just showing the colors for the turret. Funnily enough, they were useless.
Photobucket

The Pink turret. Not sure if you can see it properly. Gotta get a daylight bulb...
Photobucket

The final coat of red for the turret.
Photobucket

The Catchan Green coat for the wire.
Photobucket

The final Dark Angels coat on the wires.
Photobucket

The Hellhound without treads.

The hellhound with treads.

The back.

And lastly the side. You might notice that I applied a wash of Chestnut Ink to darken the red. I also plan on painting a triangle pointing towards the front of the turret in orange. But I cant find the paint pot.

So there you have it, My custom hellhounds. Comments and criticisms welcome.
